Have You Tried Bulletproof Coffee?

Have You Tried Bulletproof Coffee?

Keto is the new black right now and bulletproof or keto coffee is just one of the popular keto ways to kickstart your day.

So what is it? Bulletproof coffee was a term originally coined by Dave Asprey an American biohacker who found that creating this 'fatty' coffee was a great way to increase energy and cognitive function as well as support fat loss and many other benefits.

Bulletproof coffee can be a useful option for those dabbling in intermittent fasting or ketosis as the medium chain triglycerides provide a great fuel for our brain and the fat from the butter helps to maintain satiety and slow the absorption of caffeine meaning less jitters.

Good quality grass-fed butter contains omega-3 fatty acids, beta-carotene, fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K, CLA (a fatty acid with powerful fat-loss benefits), and antioxidants as well as butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid that can both prevent and decrease inflammation.

MCT oil is extracted from coconut oil but contains higher concentrations of caprylic and capric acid which are the medium chain triglycerides. Medium-chain fats are digested easily and sent directly to your liver, where they have a thermogenic effect and the ability to positively alter your metabolism as well as being great for balancing hormones and mental function. A side note on MCT oil, start slowly with it, perhaps 1 tsp and gradually increase, as it can lead to gastric upsets in some people.

You can watch the video below with Shan from My Food Religion to see how it's made but the basics are, 1 tbs MCT oil, 1 tbs grass-fed butter (or ghee) and black coffee, blended until creamy. It's a delicious alternative to your regular coffee and a great way to supercharge your morning.
